제목 | Christie energizes the Guadalajara GDLUZ festival of light with superior projection, content process… | ||
MEXICO CITY - (May 1, 2017) - Christie®, the world leader in creating and sharing the best visual and audio experiences, is pleased to announce that its Roadster HD20K-J projectors and the Christie Pandoras Box show control systems have played a critical role in the mapping projections screened on the city’s most emblematic buildings during the recent GDLUZ festival of light held in Guadalajara, Mexico.
GDLUZ, held for the very first time this year, is the largest festival of lights in Mexico and the country’s most unique audiovisual event. For the duration of five days, and within the framework of the 475th anniversary of the founding of Guadalajara, the city’s old quarters were lit up with multimedia technology, thanks to projection mappings, synchronized fireworks, multimedia shows and a gigantic sphere of light, among other installations. The festival was driven primarily by the Mexican company Altea Corp, specialists in development and content for multimedia events and one that has designed shows for brands including Coca Cola, Volvo, Adidas, Nike and Chivas, coupled with the support of the city council of Guadalajara and private support. Christie technology was used in three of the festival’s installations. The first, held in Plaza Tapatía, projected real-time captures of the audience, displaying gigantic 12-meter high faces, complete with humorous captions. Another of the interactive projections, called Laser Mapping, was also held in Plaza Tapatía. Here, using a laser pointer, the audience was able to draw shapes and images, which were projected in real time using Christie projectors on one of the walls of a building with a surface area of 360 square meters.
The third projection using Christie technology was an interactive mapping on the esplanade outside Hospicio Cabañas, a building named a World Heritage site. Using a proprietary application designed by Altea Corp, which included custom-built servers to process images and movement sensors, the audience was given the opportunity to create a video mapping by “painting” the façade of Hospicio Cabañas in real time. In this case, the projection area was 462 square meters. Altea Corp was absolutely thrilled with the performance of the Christie Roadster HD20K-J projectors used in GDLUZ. “The performance of the projectors was excellent, and the quality of the image was truly superb,” declared Carlos Márquez, Altea Corp’s director of projection. “The projector’s on/off times are optimum, as well as the duration of the lamp,” he added. These are 3DLP® technology projectors, delivering 20,000 lumen and HD resolution. Christie Pandoras Box also played a critical role in managing the shows. More specifically, Altea Corp used Pandoras Box Players and Pandoras Box Managers to run the projections and control the shows, the lighting and the fireworks. “Pandoras Box was a crucial element in the development of the three interactive mappings. Its guaranteed reliability makes it such an excellent product,” said Carlos Márquez. Attracting over 460,000 people during the five days, the festival is now the latest new attraction for the city of Guadalajara. “We wish to congratulate our partner Altea Corp for their excellent work on this project, said Ernesto Armus, Christie director for Mexico. “Christie works tirelessly to provide its partners with the most effective and intuitive solutions for complex large-scale projections.” About Christie Christie Digital Systems USA, Inc. is a global visual and audio technologies company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ushio Inc., Japan (JP:6925).
